The Installed-Base Opportunity Register

One row per asset — or per cohort (model × vintage × region), which is how most people should start. Answer what you actually know. The register works out the motion, and shows you how much of your base falls out of the funnel before anyone can sell to it. No score. No total opportunity number you didn't supply.

One rule for cohorts: use a cohort row only when every unit in it shares the same answer in every column. A mixed cohort turns partial uncertainty into all-or-nothing classification — split it into separate rows instead.

Seven fields. If a field would not change the motion, it is not here. Rows auto-save in this browser.

How the motion is decided — RENEW contract expiring soon, contactable · CONVERT warranty ending soon, contactable — first paid coverage, not a renewal · ATTACH active, known, contactable, no coverage · RECOVER active and known, but no valid contact · VERIFY status, owner or coverage unknown — it cannot enter any motion until you fix that · NO ACTION confirmed retired, or covered with nothing due.

Is your biggest row the one marked VERIFY?

Send Paula the funnel — how many units, and how many you could not place. She’ll tell you which records to reconcile first to unlock the nearest motion — free, no pitch, no follow-up sequence.

No form. No newsletter. We don’t run one.

A first-pass register for sizing the blind spot, not a system of record. It counts what you tell it and classifies each row by the rules shown above — it does not estimate opportunity value, because a value you did not supply would be a value you cannot defend. This first pass covers contract motions — renew, convert, attach, recover. Parts campaigns and modernisation need fields this register deliberately leaves out: configuration, age, obsolescence, service history. Start with one product line or region; cohorts are fine and usually faster than serials. "Cannot be placed" is the number that matters: it is the part of your installed base that no campaign, forecast or attachment metric can currently see. All computation happens in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere. Rows are kept only in this browser's local storage so a refresh does not lose them; "Reset to the example" clears them.
